The Sistah Sistah Foundation is seeking dedicated and experienced individuals to join our Advisory Board. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission of achieving gender justice and women’s human rights using a Feminist Lens in Zambia.

Role and Responsibilities

As an Advisory Board member, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction and decision-making processes of our organization.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Expertise and Guidance: Offer expertise and guidance in specific areas such as finance, legal advice, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), policy, and advocacy.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: Participate in board meetings and provide feedback on strategic decisions to help shape the organization’s strategy.
  • Industry Insights: Provide insights into industry trends, policy frameworks, and best practices.
  • Networking: Leverage your extensive networks to introduce the organization to key decision-makers, industry influencers, potential collaborators, and funders.
  • Education and Knowledge Sharing: Educate board members and the organization’s leadership in your areas of expertise.
  • Risk Mitigation: Collaborate to identify and mitigate potential risks to ensure the organization’s success and stability.
  • Oversight: Provide oversight without having legal or fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Sounding Board: Act as a sounding board for the organization’s leadership.
  • Reputation Enhancement: Enhance the organization’s reputation and credibility through your involvement.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in similar work within an NGO/Feminist organizational setting.
  • Feminist Values: Strong feminist values and vast experience working around our main thematic areas.
  • Expertise: Strong expertise in the organization’s fundamental programs and projects.
  • Networking: A strong network within feminist/activist communities and the ability to influence policy and public discourse.
  • Leadership: Extensive experience in feminist causes and nonprofit leadership.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for presenting project findings.
  • Remote Work Capability: Ability to work remotely and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
